Richard “Rick” Schmidt, Jr., PE – President and CEO
Rick Schmidt has served as President and CEO of CG Schmidt since 2006. Previously, Rick served as Vice President and Regional Manager for Payne & Dolan, one of the largest producers and contractors of asphalt pavements and aggregate materials in the Midwest.
Rick graduated from Marquette University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is the past president of the Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association, the Marquette University Engineering Alumni Association, and also a past member on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Transportation Development Association.
He currently serves on the Boy Scout Potawatomi Area Council Executive Board and is a member of the Pius High School "Project Lead the Way" Community Partners Team. He also sits on the Marquette University College of Engineering National Advisory Executive Committee and Marquette University Construction Engineering and Management Advisory Board. Rick is a registered professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin.
Rick received the Marquette University Engineering Alumni Association "Service Award" in 1997 and the Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers "Professional Engineer of the Year in Construction" in 2001.

Geoff Knudson
Geoff has 40 years of construction industry experience, nine of which were with CG Schmidt. Beginning his career as a field engineer, he rose to the level of company President by the age of 37. Geoff’s professional and community affiliations include the Associated General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee, and the Better Business Bureau.
Bronson Haase
Bronson’s professional and community affiliations include the Greater Milwaukee United Way, United Performing Arts Fund, Milwaukee Boys & Girls Club, Boys & Girls Club Camp, Marquette University Business College, and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Corporate Council. Bronson previously served as President and CEO - Wisconsin Gas, President - Ameritech Wisconsin, and President - Wisconsin Bell.
Dr. Janet Phillips
Janet is currently the CEO and co-founder of Vector Surgical, LLC, a medical device developer. She previously served as Vice President of PointOne, a bioinformatics company in Milwaukee, partnered with Humber Mundie & McClary, consulting with numerous clients as a business psychologist, and led executive development for Microsoft Corporation. Janet’s professional and community affiliations include roles as the director of TownBank (Delafield and Madison) and the Examiner for the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. She frequently speaks to audiences on leadership development and organizational performance.
Kim Hurtado
Kim is currently the managing shareholder of Hurtado, SC, Counselors at Law. She previously served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Roland B. Day, Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Kim has extensive experience in resolution of complex construction litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Kim’s professional and community affiliations include the American Bar Association, State Bar of Wisconsin, Associated General Contractors Association, Metropolitan Builders Association, Taliesin Preservation, Inc., National Space Society, Amnesty International USA.
Tom Fischer
Tom currently serves as principal of Fischer Financial Consulting LLC, providing consult on corporate financial, accounting and governance matters. He previously served as partner of Arthur Andersen LLP, working with clients such as SC Johnson, Quadgraphics, Kohler and Manpower. Tom’s professional and community affiliations include the University of Notre Dame’s Worldwide Alumni Association, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce and the House of Peace in Milwaukee.
Mark Brickman
Mark recently retired as chairman of both The Polacheck Company and Polacheck Property Management Corporation (now CBRE). Mark has nearly fifty years of experience in the Wisconsin real estate market. He previously served as The Polacheck Company’s president. Mark’s professional and community affiliations include the Greater Milwaukee Committee, Boys & Girls Clubs, Milwaukee Jewish Federation, and the University of Wisconsin Foundation. He has held leadership positions for Israel Bonds, Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the United Jewish Appeal.
Larry Compton
Larry currently owns the Penworthy Company in Milwaukee, a retailer which sells children’s library books to schools and libraries across the country. He has previously held positions with The Trane Company and Anderson/Roethle, Inc. Larry’s professional and community affiliations include Economics Wisconsin, which provides economic and financial education to Wisconsin teachers, and the Historic Third Ward Association.
Dr. Joan Prince
Joan is currently Vice Chancellor for Partnerships and Innovation at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She previously held responsibilities as the lead strategist and implementer for the Health Professions Partnerships Initiative an the University of Wisconsin Medical School, as well as a Clinical Laboratory supervisor for Covenant Health Care Systems. Joan’s professional and community affiliations include the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and Milwaukee Public Library. She was one of an inaugural cohort of 30 invitees for the Kellogg School of Management’s Minority Corporate Director’s Development Program in 2003. She was recently appointed to the corporate board of Managed Health Services of Wisconsin, a subsidiary of the Centene Corporation.
Jill Grootemaat Pelisek
Jill is the Lawrence G. Regner Executive-in-Residence and Adjunct Professor in the School of Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She teaches courses in the Helen Bader Institute of Nonprofit Management in the area of management of nonprofit organizations at the graduate level. She is a member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass Advisory Board, Business Advisory Council of the UWM School of Business Administration, Columbia-St Mary’s Health System’s Joint Conference Committee and Audit and Corporate Responsibility Committee, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Advisory Council of UWM School of Business Administration , Gilda’s Club Advisory Council, Milwaukee Women’s Center Advisory Committee, Mount Mary Women’s Leadership Advisory Board, Professional Dimensions, Rotary Club of Milwaukee, and the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Veterinary Medicine Development Council.
Doug Guy
Doug Guy currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Community Health Network (CHN) in Berlin, WI. He is highly regarded in the healthcare industry, with his extensive background in both CEO and COO positions. Prior to joining CHN in 2006, he served as a consultant of ProHealth Care, Inc. Prior to his consultation services, Doug served as the CEO of Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital for 11 years. He was also the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee for four years and the Vice President for Center Operations and other positions at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA for 12 years. Doug is also a member of the American Hospital Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is also faculty at Concordia University-Mequon.
Richard Schmidt, Sr.
Richard is currently CG Schmidt’s chairman. He joined the company in 1952 as a mason apprentice, working his way up through the ranks to the position of president in 1984. Richard’s professional and community affiliations include Associated General Contractors Association, Curative Foundation, FBI Citizens Academy, Hunger Task Force, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Downtown Kiwanis, Wisconsin Historical Society, Milwaukee Zoological Society, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, Pier Wisconsin.

David Kellar
Now with Keller Real Estate Group, David has over 17 years of commercial real estate experience serving national, regional and local clients. David is also a past president of the Realtors Association of South Central Wisconsin (1998) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Apartment Association of South Central Wisconsin and is a member of the State of Wisconsin Commercial Building Code Council.
Theran Welsh
Theran joined Suby, Von Haden & Associates in December 2005 as lead principal of the Construction Industry Services Group. A Certified Public Accountant since 1988, Theran advises construction, real estate and distribution businesses, many of which are family owned. Theran has a B.S. Communication Arts, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1984, and was an All-American Hockey Player in 1980.
Jim Cole
As a Partner with Quarles & Brady, Jim practices in the intellectual property and commercial litigation areas. He is a respected litigation attorney and a skilled mediator of intellectual property, commercial, construction and media disputes. Jim's experience in open court and behind the closed doors of the negotiating room enables him to guide disputing parties through many of the legal and procedural pitfalls, holdups and blockades that can prevent effective resolution of their disagreements.
Regina Millner
Regina M. Millner founded her company, RMM Enterprises, Inc. in 1991. Over the years, its work has specialized in complex real estate projects for clients in government and the private sector. She is currently serving on the board of Madison Gas & Electric Company as well. Recently, she has served on the boards of Meriter Hospital; Meriter Health Services, Inc., serving as its chair in 2001 through 2003; Wisconsin State Equity Corporation; and Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation. Regina has also recently served or is serving on the boards of Chazen Art Museum; Downtown Madison, Inc.; Madison Children’s Museum; Wisconsin Alumnae Association; Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra; TEMPO Madison; and Rotary Club of Madison.
